By MHLONISHWA HLOPHE | 2021-08-21

Normally, members of the public rush to the nearest police station to report a missing relative or person, however, this time around it is the police service which has released a notice seeking one of their own. However, the enquiry of the missing officer was supposed to be an internal matter, according to sources within the police camp.

The police correspondence directed to all stations and posts said Sergeant Cebile Shongwe, who was based at the Malkerns Police Station, has gone missing. According to the statement dated August 14, 2021 from the Malkerns Police Station to all police stations and posts, the missing officer was supposed to assume her duties on August 13, 2021 (Friday).

“You are kindly requested to check in your stations and post areas for the above mentioned police officer who went missing from work at Malkerns Police Station. She was to assume duty at 2145 hours on August 13, 2021,” reads the statement.

It further asserted that the Siteki Police Station is requested to check her parental at her parental homestead at Matsetsa area. Whereas, the Mbabane Police Station was requested to check her at Nduma Royal Kraal in Motshane, where her family originates from.

Chief Police Information and Communications Officer Superintendent Phindile Vilakati said this was supposed to be internal communication within the police service.

Leaked

She said they used this format when enquiring on internal matters. She said it was not for public to know and wondered how the information was leaked to the media.” The same officer has highly sensitive recordings circulating on social media, especially the one addressed to National Commissioner of Police William Tsitsibala Dlamini, advising him to resign for lack of principles as head of the police.

This is in relation to how Dlamini handled the widespread arrests, and in particular that of the two Members of Parliament Bacede Mabuza and Mthandeni Dube who, according to the defected officer, were arrested and held on trumped up charges. She said she personally read the charge sheet and found no case after other officers were instructed to create them.

She alleges furthermore that there was no justice in the kingdom, especially because verdicts are decided prior to trial and some rewards change hands among lawyers. Most of the video clip is a tirade against the senior officer.

However, she has generated several likes on Facebook and hundreds of followers. This is the same officer who allegedly leaked State secrets while dating a commander at the Botanical Gardens in Summerfield and these were also published in an online platforms.
