BUSINESS ESWATINI, VUKANI BOMAKE EXHIBIT WARES

By Bahle Gama | 2021-05-09

Business Eswatini in conjunction with Vukani Bomake braved the weather to exhibit their wares this past Saturday.

Having been a frosty and rainy winter day on Saturday, the women came out to exhibit their wares along with other small and upcoming local entrepreneurs at the Albert Millin.

They were selling items ranging from confectionery, used clothes, food items, cellphones and Western and African jewellery. Vukani Bomake started as a Facebook group, known as Eswatini Mums which fast reached the 200 affiliate mark when the actors realised that there was a big potential of staging a flea market of their own.

It was at this point that Business Eswatini realised that if they could support this project, it would serve to help them achieve multiple objectives with their own Vukani Bomake Project.

Business Eswatini CEO E. Nathi Dlamini stated that coming from an organisation of corporate entities, Business Eswatini’s wing, Business Women Eswatini (BWE) saw an opportunity to inspire the small entrepreneurs who are just starting out on their business journey by leading the way in braving the rains to reach out to the market with their products.

“Under the seemingly unpalatable circumstances they seized the opportunity to pass on the message that while venturing into business can be remunerative, it is also not a rosy adventure all the time but a journey sometimes fraught with challenges and many setbacks which is why it was a good lesson to have to come out in the rain and promote their businesses,” he said.

Skills He further stated that Business Eswatini was not only looking at helping the women sell their wares but they also reportedly used the platform to impart business etiquette, marketing and sales skills to Vukani Bomake on the job, which is part of their on-the-job coaching programme.

He further added that this training endeavour was aimed at giving the women a holistic grasp of running a textile business as they are already going through an on-the-job training at Far East Textiles, in Matsapha.

“Business Eswatini would like to encourage all the up-and-coming business people to stop at nothing in order to see out their dreams come to fruition in business. As they say, nothing will prevail against a strong will.

We also salute the positive spirit of entrepreneurship on display on the day and hope that this was one of many more adventures to come,” he added.
