SOCCER - ESWATINI Women Football Association (EWFA) has scrapped two executive positions ahead of the 2020 /21 season kick-off.
This follows the removal of the secretary and treasurer positions which will now be replaced by a new full time office administrator to be hired in due course.
This was revealed by EWfA Chairman Sonnyboy Mabuza during the association’s annual general meeting held at Sigwaca house yesterday.
Professional
“We are going to be professional this season. All along the people who were in the positions were volunteers and they are committed somewhere else. So, as an association in collaboration with EFA, we decided to scrap the two positions in the next come elections,’’ he said.
The EFA executive member also stated that the COVID- 19 pandemic has adversely affected the execution of the football business and routine statutory responsibilities.
“We would like to commend the good collaboration and indulgence implemented by our membership during this COVID-19 era. This is the spirit we promote, which expressively contributes towards the development of women football,’’ he said. Mabuza also appreciated the good performance of the senior national team in the COSAFA competition, stability of EWFA, development of the four- year Women’s football strategy, establishment of U-20 Madelezini Zonal league, among others.
“ I would like to salute the men and women who have served the sport for a very long time as their inputs and investments enhanced the development of women football in the country thus far,” said Mabuza.
He further acknowledged both EFA and Eswatinibank as well as the football family for their different roles in the upliftment of women football in the country.
