IT WAS AN OBVIOUS CHOICE - MANYISA

By Jongile Xuba | 2020-07-08

SOCCER - MBABANE Swallows’ newest signing Leon Manyisa says joining the capital city giants is the best choice for his budding football career.

Manyisa made the comments during his official unveiling at the team’s new offices yesterday. The creative midfielder, who had been subject to a lot of interest from local clubs since his return from a short stint in Europe, eventually put pen to paper, choosing the ‘Beautiful Birds’.

He said making the choice to play for Swallows was basically a no brainer for an ambitious player like him. “I am really excited to be here at such a big club both locally and in Africa. Coming to Swallows was an easy and obvious choice but most importantly the best one for my career.

Most local players who play internationally managed to do so by first playing for this club. I am confident they can also help me achieve the same goal,” he said.

The young star also thanked his former employers and fans for the support they gave whilst he was there insisting there was no bad blood between them.

“Manzini Wanderers are a big club with a lot of history.

They were successful before me and will continue to do well after me. I am grateful for the time I spent there and there are no hard feelings between us. Right now I am just happy to be here and will focus on doing my best for my new team,” he said.

Representing the club’s President was Peter Bhiya, who commended the Management Committee (MC) for a job well done in signing the prodigious talent.

“On behalf of the club president we would like to officially welcome Manyisa to the team. He is a talented player and the MC has outdone itself in securing his services,” he said.

Manyisa signed a one-year contract which has the option to be extended during the course of the season.

Fans will also be interested to know that their latest signing will don the number 11 jersey for the upcoming season made famous by Banele ‘Pupu’ Sikhondze.
