CONFIRMED cases of COVID-19 in the country are fast approaching the 300 mark.
Since March 14, which is the day Eswatini recorded its first case of COVID-19, the cases have risen to 285, which is 15 places before hitting 300.
Yesterday, Minister of Health Lizzie Nkosi confirmed two cases of COVID-19, all from the Manzini region, which is the epicentre of the coronavirus.
The newly-confirmed cases include a 31-year-old female from Manzini region. She does not have any flu symptoms and she is case No. 284. Case No. 285 is a 42-year-old man also from the Manzini region also has mild symptoms of the virus.
Nkosi said the two positive cases were confirmed from 102 test results that were received yesterday, of which 100 were negative.
To date, Manzini has 176 cases followed by the Hhohho region with 58 cases. Lubombo and Shiselweni regions are following each other closely with 28 and 23 cases respectively.
The status of confirmed COVID-19 cases indicates for the first time a tie between patients under home care and those admitted in treatment centres.
Each place of care has 46 patients, and in total there are 92 people who are currently being treated for COVID-19.
Positive
Adding, there are more males who have tested positive to COVID-19 than females, as 151 are males and 134 are females.
Nkosi further announced 27 new recoveries. The numbers come after three days of not recording any new recoveries.
For three days, the number of recoveries were 168. However, yesterday Minister Nkosi announced that the number of recoveries stood at 189, which she said was very encouraging.
Nkosi further revealed that the number of recoveries from admitted patients had increased, as there are 70 percent recoveries from admissions than under home care patients as they are now at 63 per cent.
