SOCCER - TAMBANKULU Callies are guaranteed E230 000 in the SMVAF Ingwenyama Cup competition after they advanced to the semi-finals of the prestigious knockout competition.
The First Division outfit managed beat Manzini Wanderers 2-0 in the quarterfinals at Somhlolo National stadium on Sunday to book their place with Mbabane Highlanders, Green Mamba and Moneni Pirates. According to Article 16 of the 2019/2020 Ingwenyama Cup Rules and Regulations prize breakdown, the Lubombo based outfit are entitled to E200 000 if they fail to progress past the semis. On top of that, they will also receive this year’s best finisher prize for First Division teams worth E30 000.
Callies Chairman Sithembiso Ngudze Mamba said as much as they were happy with what they had achieved in this year’s competition, there was still a long way for them to go as a club.
“Firstly, I would like to thank all our fans who have been supporting us during our historic cup run so far. We are happy with the progress thus far but we still want to do more in order to promote Lubombo football. This means we have to play every game to win and we will face each hurdle as it comes,” he said.
The chairman further promised the fans that there was still more to come from ‘Bo-Bhejane’ as they chase promotion to the Premier League and reach the Ingwenyama Cup finals.
