THEY ARE NO LONGER WELCOME - CHIEF

By Sifiso Dlamini | 2019-11-20

SENATOR Chief Mvimbi Matse has stated that the two traditional healers who were convicted on Monday for the murder of a Mozambican  were not welcome in his chiefdom.

The three convicted traditional healers namely Madibhane Habakkuk Simelane, Sibusiso Buthelezi and Majozi Tikhali Mango are all from Lucaceni area under Chief Mvimbi.

Interviewed after the High Court had convicted the two, Chief Mvimbi commended High Court Judge Maxine Langwenya for the manner she handled the case, adding the traditional healers as their actions were a disgrace and inhuman.

He said he was confident that the court would mete out a steep sentence and condemned their behaviour.

He said the Lucaceni community was shocked and saddened by the actions of the traditional healers.

He added that the actions were gruesome and inhuman as they skinned and mutilated the victim and one of the traditional healers was alleged to have ingested the intestines of the victim.

How can a normal person do something like that, wondered the chief.

“Whenever, they are released after serving their sentence, they are no longer needed in the community as they were no longer welcome. Angibadzingi mine lana,” reiterated the chief.

He added that the court should be stiff in their sentencing.

He said community members were still incensed about the actions of the traditional healers and their safety was not guaranteed.

He said if ever they were to return, community members would definitely revenge as they were still angry.

He also mentioned that the relatives of the Mozambican from time to time visited the area to enquire if the traditional healers were released and they were also angry about their actions.

He also emphasised that as a community they put their trust in the justice  system.
