SOCCER- Hub giants, Manzini Wanderers have cleared the air on their star player Leon Manyisa who is alleged to be double registered.
The hub giants say the former Vovovo FC playmaker righfully belongs to them
This was said by the club’s Management committee chairman Bongani 'Bhanyaza' Mdluli, who added that the player’s documents were still with them and they would prove their case in due course following the player’s return from Armenian side FC Van.
Mdluli said this during the supporters meeting which was held yesterday at Manzini Library.
“I won't talk much about this since the matter is before the Disciplinary Committee. But what I can say is that Manyisa is our player, he wasn't cleared to any team and we have a contract with him. Therefore, there was no way he could be double registered under the FIFA connect system. We are waiting with bated breath to hear the coutcome of the case,” he said.
Mdluli further said that claiming a player is double registered is tantamount to undermining FIFA.
Meanwhile, the team’s general Manager, Berger Nxumalo said he was among the officials who accompanied the player to OR Tambo International Airport when he left for Armenia. “I will be brief about this issue. Manyisa went for trials in Armenia. Unfortunately, the deal didn't materialise and we were hoping to benefit," he said.
Nxumalo added that they will wait for those who lodged the protest to prove their case.
Nxumalo explained this after he was asked by the supporters to clarify since he was among those who accompanied the player when he left.
Malanti Chiefs lodged a protest last week against Manzini Wanderers for fielding Manyisa whom they deemed an ineligible player.
The matter will be heard on November 20 following its postponement on Thursday evening at the Sigwaca House.
