Mbabane Swallows.............................. (0)1

Denver Sundowns................................(0)0

SOCCER - CAPITAL city giants Mbabane Swallows maintained their bright start into the new season after beating Denver Sundowns 1-0 during an MTN Premier League match played at Somhlolo National Stadium last night.

The red and white glamour side recorded their second straight win following their resounding 4-0 win against Manzini Wanderers in the opening match of the new season.

Yesterday’s match was watched by over 2 000 football lovers, who were mostly Mbabane Swallows supporters.

The ‘Beautiful Birds’ needed an all-important strike from their captain Tony ‘TT’  Tsabedze to put another hub outfit to the sword, jumping to the summit of the log with six points in the process.

Sundowns were nearly off to a perfect start as midfielder Enzo Motsa missed a sitter four minutes into action when he failed to beat Swallows goalkeeper Sandanezwe Mathabela, who produced a fine save on a one-on-one situation.

Dangerous

Sundowns new signing Makhosi Mthethwa made a timely tackle in the 36th minute to block what looked like a dangerous shot from Swallows striker Simanga Shongwe.

The match went to the break with the teams locked at 0-0. Swallows then scored with only two minutes into the second stanza after skipper 'TT' Tsabedze’s header.

The former Sihlangu winger slotted home a rebound from a Vusumuzi Zungu’s shot which hit the cross bar.

Changes

Swallows goal-minder Sandanezwe made another great save in the 63th minute when he blocked a low ground shot from Enzo Motsa.

Swallows made two changes deep into the last stanza by bringing in Siphamandla Dhlamini and Wonder Nhleko for Xolani Magagula and Bonginkhosi Dlamini.

Sundowns brought in former Malanti Chiefs player Asive Langwe, who came in for the misfiring Enzo.

The changes did not yield any result for Sundowns as they failed to get the elusive equaliser.
