ENACTUS ESWATINI NATIONAL COMPETITION ON JULY 6

By Qondile Ntiwane | 2019-06-25

Six teams have advanced to Enactus Eswatini National Competition to be held at Esibayeni Lodge on July 06.

The teams are Limkokwing, UNESWA Luyengo, UNESWA Mbabane, UNESWA Kwaluseni, SANU Health Sciences, and Gwamile VOCTIM.

In league one Limkokwing won the judges over with their “Gems of Africa” project, which is an Android App that creates a link between service providers and clients.  While in league two SANU Health Sciences earned the most votes with their “Golden Waste” project; the team turns food waste into a high-quality liquid fertiliser, compost, detergent and pesticide.

A total of 10 teams took part in the preliminary round of the competition held over the weekend. Over 120 people attended the event comprised of students, faculty advisors, iudges and staff. Enactus Country Director Wonderboy  Khumalo said they were looking forward to seeing which team would be crowned the national champions.

“The students have been working all year to prepare for this highly anticipated event,” said Khumalo.

For those wanting to follow along, the event will be updated in real time on the Enactus Eswatini Facebook page,” he said.

He stated that in attendance were 15 judges from different corporate entities.

“We would like to thank everyone who came out to judge the event.  Your participation helps in adding value to the projects and the students themselves and further ensure that the process is fair and transparent, and that the best teams are chosen.

“KPMG also sent two representatives to act as adjudicators at the event to ensure a fair competition,” he said.

He said like in business, Enactus believes that competition encourages creativity and rewards results.

“This means more lives impacted by projects. At all levels, these projects must meet the following criterion: Teams must effectively use entrepreneurial action to empower people to improve their livelihoods in an economically, socially and environmentally sustainable way,” he said.
