‘SUSHI’, ALLEN FEBRUARY’S BEST

By Sibusiso Dlamini | 2019-03-20

SOCCER – ROYAL Leopard defender Sifiso 'Sushi' Nkambule and Black Swallows’ Allen Mabuza have been named as February’s best MTN Premier League and National First Division players, respectively.

The two were presented with their awards during the MTN player of the month event held at Sigwaca House yesterday.

The event was graced by MTN Eswatini’s Meshack Maseko and Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Simanga Nhleko.

Leopard’s Nkambule won himself E6 000, while Black Swallows’ Mabuza walked away with E2 000.

When interviewed, Nhambule thanked his teammates for the teamwork.

“For me, it’s not just my achievement but the whole team because it was a team effort. Now, we are the team to beat and we will be taking each match as a cup final,” he said.

Meanwhile, Black Swallows’ Allen, who has scored 14 goals in this year’s campaign, said he was glad to be playing an integral role in the team’s quest for success.

“I am very proud of myself, and I look forward to doing more. This award is a motivation, and we won’t stop working hard as a team until we finally claim the title and get promotion to the elite league,” he said.

Achievement

When making his remarks, MTN Eswatini’s Senior Consumer Manager Meshack Maseko congratulated the players for their achievement, stating that they were also placing themselves in a very good position of claiming the coveted Player of the Series Award come end-of-the-season.

“I would like to congratulate the two gentlemen for being named as February’s best players. They are now in a good position when it comes to the player for the series being picked. The road continues, and we look forward to seeing whoremains standing come May,” he said.

On another note, Mbabane Highlanders’ South-African born forward Thabiso Mokenkoane yesterday became the first player in 2019 to claim the MTN Yell’o Sunday hat-trick incentive.
