BUGANU CEREMONY ENDS WITH A BLAST

By Samkelisiwe Khoza | 2019-02-18

DESPITE heavy rains that clogged the dancing arena the past Saturday, nearly ruining the ceremony, the Hhohho Buganu festival ended with a flare yesterday.

The 2019 festival commenced on Friday, however, heavy showers clogged the dancing arena during the crest of the festival, which is Saturday. Nevertheless, Lutsango danced and refused to let the rain dampen their spirits, as they jovially danced the rain away.

The final day of the festival at Buhleni  had its weather sunny with slight breeze, making the day more fun for the Lutsango, as they showcased their unique dancing skills before Their Majesties.

Moreover, Lutsango members were gifted by Their Majesties with a new and unique matching lihiya (kanga) for the festival.

His Majesty, Emakhosikati being Inkhosikati LaMotsa, Inkhosikati LaMbikiza, Inkhosikati LaGija, Inkhosikati LaMagongo, Inkhosikati LaMahlangu, Inkhosikati  LaNtentesa, Inkhosikati Lafogiyane and Inkhosikati LaMashwama led the cheerfully dancing Lutsango.

For day three, the remaining Lutsango, comprising security forces; the Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS), His Majesty’s Correctional Services (HMCS) and the Umbutfo Eswatini Defence Force (UEDF) with other royalty members amongst others continued to dance until late in the afternoon.

former ministers Sibongile Simelane and Hlobsile Ndlovu also joined in.

Emazinyane (princesses and princes) appreciated the festival and briefly joined Lutsango, led by the Minister of Information Communications and Technology, Princess Sikhanyiso.
