FORMER Members of parliament fighting for payment of their gratuity by government are said to be calling Mjuluko Dlamini time and again in an attempt to find out what is derailing the process of the payment.
The former MPs are stand to be paid in terms of the Finance Circular of 2013. Mjuluko was elected to lead the pack of MPs who formed the sigejane, to enquire about the gratuity payout.
The former legislators have been fighting for their gratuity since last year. Former Mtfongwaneni Member of Parliament Mjuluko confirmed that he had been spending sleepless nights due to the inundating calls from the former MPs.
He said he understood the situation the members of the 10th Parliament were in. “They are worried because the date of the payment has elapsed. You must also bear it in mind that schools are about to open, hence the frustration, ‘’ he said.
On another note Mjuluko said the payment date they agreed upon was 7-11 January. He said they were left devastated when they did not get their final handshake last week Friday.
In a previous interview with Ministry of Finance’s Tsabile Dlamini, the Communications Officer, she said the Mps would be paid before the end of the month. She told this publication that there was no stipulated date for the payment.
