â€˜DAZZAâ€™ JOINS SEA BIRDS

SOCCER – MTN Premier League returnees Manzini Sea Birds have made their biggest signing ahead of the new season in former Manzini Sundowns and Sihlangu winger Darren ‘Dazza’ Christie.

The reigning National First Division champions have agreed personal terms with the ex-Mbabane swallows winger after successfully obtaining the players’clearance from the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) on Friday afternoon.

Sea Birds Manager London Dlamini confirmed the developments when contacted yesterday.

“We have completed the signing of Darren Christie, who is one of the experienced players in the country. We are trying to assemble a strong and competitive squad as we want to compete effectively in all competitions.

“We would like to welcome the player to the Sea Birds family and we are confident he will add value and experience in the team,” he said.

Christie spent the previous campaign on the side-lines after his intended move to the now defunct Matsapha United was halted by boardroom squabbles over his ownership between him and his former side Swallows.

He was eventually cleared to a team of his choice by the EFA Players Status Committee towards the end of the previous campaign.
