Green Mamba ………………….. (2)6

Malanti Chiefs ………………….. (0)1

SOCCER – Correctional services side Green Mamba thrashed Malanti Chiefs 6 – 1 to make it to the finals of the Swazi Telecom Charity Cup play-offs.

This was during the opening encounter of the Swazi Telecom Charity Cup played at the Mavuso Sports  Centre yesterday.

The Correctional services side opened the account within two minutes of the match, through Linda Nkambule who scored with an easy tap-in from a Mthunzi ‘Xavi’ Mkhontfo cross.

Green Mamba continued to pile in the pressure as ‘Xavi’ missed two clear cut chances where scoring seemed easier in the 21st and 32nd minutes, where he simply took too much time instead of finishing it off, and Mduduzi Shongwe, who was manning the poles for Malanti Chiefs eventually caught up and made easy saves.

The Correctional services side eventually got the second just minutes before the end of the first stanza through ‘Xavi’ in the 39th minute, finishing off a cross from the impressive Mphumuzi Ginindza on the left flask.

After the recess, the Caleb Ngwenya- led charges scored their third in the first minute of the second half through Mphumuzi, who rose above everyone to score from a corner kick by substitute Muhle Shiba.

Green Mamba then added to their account through Banele ‘Banny’ Mdluli and  Mxolisi Mkhontfo whilst Malanti scored the consolation through Senzo Dlamini.
