Indeed the Eswatini Biggest Braai 2018 is set to be lit as young Durban Hlokoloza group has been added to the line-up.
Durban Hlokoloza, one of the hottest Sichatsamiya groups out of South Africa is billed to perform at this year's Eswatini Biggest Braai, scheduled for Mavuso Trade Centre this Sunday, making their debut performance in the country.
According to Philani Maswati Charity Organisation (PMCO) Chairman Lutfo Dlamini, the group is made up of youngsters from ages 11 to 15, and have already performed at various events in South Africa, such as the Mandela Day 2016.
"They are the modern answer to the continuation of Ladysmith Black Mambazo's legacy. Their stage presence is fascinating, so are their songs. We are certain locals, especially children, will find this rare form of young talent quite intriguing," said Dlamini.
He added, “Durban Hlokoloza is a group of five young boys, between the ages of eleven (11) and fifteen (15), who started singing Accapella music (Isicathamiya) in 2015, namely Mnqobi Lwandle Gumede, Marvin Junior Ngubane, Bayanda Mesuli Ngongoma, Samkelo Cornelious Ngongoma and Talent Boy Gumede. These youngsters are from Siyanda A, KwaMashu in Durban, South Africa.
They started performing in their community functions such as weddings, churches, commemoration days, as well at The Playhouse, where artists perform their activities e.g. drama, comedy shows and music. This was the idea of one of the boy’s parents (Thokozani Duma and Thokozile Cabangile Gumede) who saw their community youngsters destroying their lives with unnecessary things. They will be sharing the stage with Zola of 'Mdlwembe' fame, Gawuzela, DJ Mbo, Master P and Mimzkhulu, among many others.”
The fourth edition of the kingdom’s Biggest Braai is basically a family day event that packs thousands of Emaswati and is expected to attract 10 000 people this year.
Tickets to the fast-growing annual Eswatini Biggest Braai are available through the MTN Swaziland money transfer platform Mobile Money, also known as Hamba Mali, costing E70 for a single ticket if not interested in the braai and E480 for couples. The couple’s ticket comes with two braai packs and one braai stand.
Gates to the event will open as early as 7am, with the event going into the night and breaking on Monday morning at 6am.
