DZODZO ‘SPOTTED’, COPS RAID HOME

By Observer Reporter | 2018-06-19

Wanted murder suspect Sicelo ‘Dzodzo’ Zikalala’s home was yesterday raided by heavily armed police after reports that he was ‘spotted’ around the Msunduza location.

Neighbours said they saw a police kombi and two vehicles enter Zikalala’s homestead at around 9:30 last night before the officers took strategic positions.

 Responded

Sources close to the matter said police are said to have responded to endless calls from people around Msunduza who claimed that Zikalala who is accused of the murder of businessman and soccer administrator Victor Gamedze was back in town.

Zikalala disappeared at the height of Gamedze’s death allegedly after being tipped off by a police officer currently under investigation that an army of police was headed for his residence to arrest him in connection with the businessman’s death.

Murder

He was to follow businessman Sipho Shongwe who since January has been in custody as he fights for bail. The state is opposing his bail application. He is charged with the murder of Gamedze.

He was arrested together with South Africa nationals who are alleged to have been part of the hit squad that ended Gamedze’s life.

“We saw a convoy of police cars led by a kombi that was full of armed police enter ‘Dzodzo’s home. We gathered that police got a tip off that he was spotted around the Msunduza location. Police did not want to take chances and they responded to the tip off. They spent quite some time at the residence but we are not sure if they found him,’’ said the source.

Chicken dust vendors are said to have been taken aback when they saw the police convoy. ‘The whole location was abuzz as people started discussing the raid. It was clear that police were told that ‘Dzodzo’ was spotted,’’ added the source.

Gamedze was killed in cold blood on January 14, at Galp Filling Station at Ezulwini where he was ambushed as he walked out the convenience store. He was from watching his beloved Mbabane Swallows FC at Somhlolo Stadium. A cash reward was put up by police for anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of Gamedze’s killers.
