MEMORABLE PERFOMANCES AT THE KINGS GARDEN PARTY

By Nomfundo Sifundza | 2018-04-21

A mix of performers from gospel, poetry, dance, afro soul and urban soul marked a great celebration of the Golden Jubilee.

The likes of Symphony, Nothando Hlophe and Majaha Nkonyane who warmed up the stage with a poem dedicated to the King.

The NACA Best Poet nominee did not leave out the Kings wisdom in his five minute poem which he rendered with absolute ease and deep emotion.

Nothando Hlophe and Symphony made sure to leave their marks as they were joined by traditional dancers and did the ‘kutsamba’ in high heels.

Onlookers were left in awe of the awesome renditions on stage. They were yet to be mesmerised by Sands who did his best in rendering the biggest song on radio ‘Tigi’ and finished off his performances with ‘Inhlitiyo’ which was a special request.

Comedian Mdura tried his best to make the King laugh after he was abruptly interrupted in his first two minutes on stage.

The comedian’s joke about his father not taking comedy as a career seriously managed to make the king laugh.

“ My father does not take my job seriously to the extent at some point i phoned him to inform him of my interview on SABC 2’s Morning Live and just like that he said ‘I hope and pray you get that job my son,” ignoring the fact that the interview was actually about his carer not for a job post.

Lizinyane Buhlebetive was not left out in the list of splendid performers as she sang two songs for her father and displayed her dancing capabilities aswell.

Her mother Inkhosikati LaNkambule was seen beaming with a smile as young Buhlebetive displayed confidence and immense vocal abilities. The youngster also joined her elder siblings at the end of the garden party in performing songs specially for the King.

With lyrics such as ‘Ngitfunyiwe kutsi ngitobalandza/ ngitobalandza bonkhe, Ingwenyama ikhulile the six siblings made their rendition soulful and memorable.
