A Swazi Observer journalist was told he was not welcome when he attended Senate President Gelane Zwane’s husband memorial service yesterday.
The memorial service was held at the Mbabane Burial yesterday and it commenced just after 11am.
Gelane’s husband, Michael Zwane, succumbed to death last week after battling a long illness that got him in and out of hospital.
This reporter had gone to cover the memorial but was shockingly told leave as he was not welcome. The verbal exchange began when this reporter started taking pictures upon the arrival of the senate president at the venue of the memorial. An unidentified lady advanced to the reporter and confronted him on why he was taking pictures without asking for permission.
She first ordered the reporter to delete the pictures he had taken before telling him to leave the venue as he was not welcome.
“We are in grief after losing our relative and you come here looking for a scoop. Take what you have and leave as you are not welcome here. This is a private ceremony for the family,” she said.
Over 50 people came through for the memorial service.
