IN a significant gesture, their Majesties blessed the participants of the Ingwenyama Cultural Cup by gifting them with traditional regalia, creating an atmosphere of pride and heritage.

The competition, which will take place on Sunday, at the iconic Somhlolo Stadium, is a vibrant celebration of Eswatini's rich cultural heritage. Representing their Majesties, Prince Hlangabeza shared insights about the annual event. He emphasised that the cup served as a platform to showcase the talent of local teams across various categories.

"This event is a vibrant celebration of Eswatini's rich cultural heritage," he remarked, highlighting the importance of cultural expression in the nation. Prince Hlangabeza also expressed his best wishes for all participating teams, encouraging those who might not emerge victorious to maintain their spirits. "Winners should not be discouraged. They will win next time," he stated, fostering a sense of resilience among competitors.

The competition features a substantial prize pool of E355 000, which heightens the excitement among participants and spectators alike. As noted by Sandile ‘Msandi Kababa’ Nxumalo, the public relations officer, the event has generated considerable anticipation within the communities.

Nxumalo explained that the finalists were determined through regional competitions, where teams competed fiercely for a spot in the finals. "I am eager for the main event and wish all teams the best of luck as they prepare to showcase their skills and cultural expressions," he stated, reflecting the enthusiasm surrounding the competition.

Fortune Ndwandwe, representing the Lubombo region Lutsango winners, expressed confidence in their preparation for the finals, stating that they were ready.
The Ingwenyama Cultural Cup will feature five distinct categories, each representing unique cultural expressions: sibhaca, ingadla, lutsango, emajaha and timbongi.
