THE countdown to the much-anticipated Seventh Edition of the Ingwenyama Cup is officially underway and organisers are working tirelessly to ensure a world-class spectacle.
One of the major highlights in the preparations is the potential broadcast of the grand finale by renowned sports channel, Supersport.
Ingwenyama Cup PRO, Nkosilenhle 'Makawosi' Masuku, confirmed that discussions were ongoing with Supersport broadcasting channel to have this year's final showcased to a global audience. He said the members responsible for the negotiations were working tirelessly to ensure the final set for next weekend is broadcasted.
“The prospects are always there, but emabandla lafanele are still working on it. However, looking at how things have progressed over the past six editions, Supersport has been and continues to be an integral part of the festivities,” he said.
Masuku expressed optimism that this year's edition would once again be beamed live, giving football lovers across the continent and beyond a chance to experience the rich football culture of Eswatini.
“We are very hopeful that even this year the world through cameras will get to witness our showpiece. Otherwise, Supersport remains part of the big preparations as we do the real countdown to the seventh edition of the biggest and richest tournament,” he added.
With the final set to take place at the historic Somhlolo National Stadium, organisers are also extending a call to local television stations to seize the opportunity and partner with international broadcasters.
“We always look forward to and hope for our local television stations to collaborate and learn from the bigger brothers from our neighbouring countries,” he said.
The official #FillUpSomhloloNationalStadium campaign has gained momentum, building up excitement as football enthusiasts gear up for a grand spectacle.
