All Roads Lead to Hlane Buganu Festival, and women intending to participate should seek spousal approval, according to Indvuna yeLutsango from the Lubombo region.
The vibrant rhythms of the Buganu Festival are calling, attracting people from all walks of life, including corporate groups and community members.
Thi\s annual celebration, deeply rooted in the kingdom’s cultural heritage, is a time for women to showcase their skills in brewing marula beer and to honor tradition through dance.
This year, a powerful message of respect and understanding is being emphasised alongside the festivities. "As women, we should ask for permission from our husbands to attend the festival. It's a matter of respect. If he refuses, don't force it. Ask again another day, and he will eventually give you permission," advised Matsebula.
The intent is not to restrict women, but to foster harmony and understanding, according to the Indvuna yeLutsango.
According to reports following the Marula Festival in Buhleni two weeks ago, one woman was assaulted by her husband after attending the festival, the husband cited his lack of consent pertaining to her attendance.
"When we run away from home, it's as if the nature of the festivities is morally questionable. So Women, please respect the home first, then it will all go well," continued the Leader.Women are urged to take care of themselves and each other, understanding that their actions reflect on Their Majesties and the entire community."We must take care, and take ourselves seriously as women so that Their Majesties have much to be proud of in us, and let us not embarrass them," the Indvuna said.
Adding to the celebratory atmosphere, attendees can expect a warm Buganu weekend ahead.
According to weather forecasts, the weekend will be partly cloudy and warm, with hot conditions expected in the Lowveld. While morning fog is predicted in some areas, the overall weather will be conducive for enjoying the festivities. Sunday will follow a similar pattern, ensuring a pleasant experience for all those heading to Hlane.
