PLE EXCO MEMBERS ACCUSED OF POACHING WANDERERS PLAYERS

By NOMALUNGELO PHIRI | 2025-01-31

SOCCER - PLAYER-harvesting!
The Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) Executive Committee members have been accused of poaching players from hub giants Manzini Wanderers.

This situation has sparked controversy and disagreement regarding player transfers and the appropriate channels for such actions. Wanderers Manager Jabulani Dlamini says they would not release the players who took the team to the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Players Status Committee (PSC) despite the ruling that the quartet of Phathizwe Mabuza, Sandile Maseko,

Jabulani Mavimbela and Lindelwa Dludlu were free to join teams of their choice. Dlamini said the players had been misled by some PLE ExCo members, who were after their services, saying the players should have sought advice from the team than running to the PSC.

The duo of ‘Kati’ and Jabulani are on their way to National First Division outfit, Red Rhinos while Sandile Maseko is with Lozitha Spurs. Lindelwa Dludlu joined a promotional team.

“It  is a pity because the players are linked with teams of officals who are in the PLE executive, this is totally wrong. The players should have engaged us if they wanted to exit the team. They should withdraw the case from the PSC, we cannot stand on their way, but they were supposed to use the proper channels like Mlamuli Nkambule did when joining Mbabane Swallows.

These players should do likewise,” said Dlamini. He said their intention was not to frustrate the players as they understand that they also have families to feed, mentioning that the club is not trying to frustrate the players but understands their need for career progression.

He revealed that one player reached out, indicating a willingness to resolve the matter internally. “Should these teams register the players without Wanderers consent, we will again go back to court.”

PLE acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Pat Vilakati could not be drawn for comment at the time of compiling this report as his phone rang unanswered.
