WINDS OF CHANGE AS THREE SA PLAYERS ARRIVE

By JONGILE XUBA | 2025-01-31

SOCCER - THE winds of change have started to blow across the Bull’s Kraal as the Mbabane giants desperately aim to reclaim the glory days of yesteryears.

Many sweeping changes are expected as means to drag the team out of their misery.
While it remains to be seen which players will remain and who are the expected new faces, Highlanders new managing director is probably the most-open secret.

The club is yet to officially confirm a new managing director, but all signs and media reports point to former boss Bheki ‘Rubber’ Simelane as the new man for the job.

Already three South African players are expected  to join the capital city giants as a new era begins at the club.

This follows reports earlier this week that businessman  Simelane has taken over as the club’s new director, succeeding South Africa-based Chief Ally Kgomongwe. Simelane, who previously held the same position before Kgomongwe, is reportedly eager to restore the club to its former glory.

Sources within the club indicate that the new director has already started addressing key issues, beginning with the acquisition of three foreign players to replace those who recently departed. Among the notable exits are former captain Philani ‘Mkasabuli’ Mkhonto, Mphucuko ‘Smoothies’ Dlamini, Melusi ‘Mega’ Magagula, and South African striker Thabiso Mokenkoane.

Their departures followed tensions between the National Supporters Committee (NSC) and Kgomongwe, which saw the director cease to be involved  in the club’s operations. An impeccable source revealed that the new signings had already arrived in Eswatini and were expected to be joined by at least two more players before the registration period closes next week.

The goal is to strengthen the squad and ensure competitiveness for the remainder of the season.

"Our new director has already started reinforcing by bringing in three South African players. They arrived in the country yesterday and will train with the squad until they are registered.

“He is also working on signing at least two more players to further bolster the team," the source disclosed. The source also clarified that Simelane had not yet been officially unveiled as the new director, as final contractual agreements were still being negotiated.

Attempts to reach Simelane for comment were unsuccessful, as his phone went unanswered at the time of compiling this report.
