HILTON Garden Inn Mbabane incoming Senior Director Focused Service Operations MEA, Mahmoud Mokhtar has expressed the entity’s interest in expanding the hotel operation within Eswatini.
Mokhtar was speaking yesterday during a press briefing held upon his arrival.
The senior director who looks after the Hilton Inn established in Africa and the Middle East region said the Eswatini branch had been doing well since it opened its doors in 2019.
“Eswatini has been doing great since it opened, if the opportunity of expansion avails itself, we would happily do so,” he said.
He mentioned that the expansion would not be taken without consulting relevant stakeholders, which included shareholders.
He said in his next visit which would be in two months, he would try to get an appointment with government authorities to discuss expansion opportunities.
Mokhtar stated that their expansion interest was not solely based in Eswatini, but Africa as a whole.
“Hilton has a lot of interest in expanding in Africa as we need to double our portfolio,” he said.
He added that he was looking forward to working closely with teams in Africa to create lasting value for their owner and memorable experiences their guests.
The senior director appreciated the country’s warm welcome and hospitality, stating that he was impressed with how everyone welcomed him him at the airport.
Mokhtar was joyfully welcomed by a group of traditional dancers, Hilton staff, the hotel’s investment partners, the Public Service Pensions Fund (PSPF), and other prominent local stakeholders.
Mokhtar was formally introduced by Hilton Inn Vice-President Andreas Lackner, marking a significant leadership transition for Hilton in the region.
