Ludzeludze Killers................................ (0)1
Malanti Chiefs......................................... (0)1
Soccer – Malanti Chiefs were awarded the MTN National First Division (NFD) first round E50 000 carrot for their impressive performance in the league.
The team came into their match against Ludzeludze Killers at Manzini Club yesterday having already secured the cash incentive, and were handed the cheque before kick-off.
Coming to the match, it was clear from the onset that the Malanti Chiefs were intent on asserting their dominance.
They controlled the midfield, showcasing their tactical prowess and maintaining possession. However, despite their control, the Chiefs struggled to translate this into meaningful scoring opportunities. Killers’ solid defense was a standout feature of the first half, effectively neutralising the Malanti attack.
Chiefs attempted to break the deadlock with several forays into the Killers' half, but every time they got close to the goal, they were met with resolute defending.
Killers’ backline, led by their experienced centre-backs, displayed remarkable composure and coordination, thwarting any potential threats with timely interceptions and tackles.
possession
While Malanti dominated possession, the first half lacked clear-cut chances. Their attempts to find the back of the net were either blocked or went wide of the target.
Killers, on the other hand, focused on absorbing pressure and looked to counterattack when opportunities arose. However, they too were unable to create significant scoring chances in the first half, resulting in a stalemate in the first half.
Malanti Chiefs’ Bathandwa Dlamini finally broke the deadlock in a closely contested match, scoring from a corner kick, igniting celebrations among their fans
However, Killers responded with remarkable urgency just two minutes later, as Siyabonga Dlamini levelled the score at 1-1 with a well-timed strike from inside the box. The equaliser rejuvenated Killers, who were determined to push for a winning goal.
As the match drew to a close both teams fought vigorously for control in the midfield and the intensity increased, with both sides creating several chances.
Malanti Chiefs came close to regaining the lead, but their attempts were thwarted by a solid defensive performance from Ludzeludze. In the dying moments, Killers also had a couple of chances to snatch a late winner, but their finishing was not clinical enough, and the match ended in a stalemate.
