THE Minister of Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) Savannah Maziya has sucessfully conducted the first phase of a game changing mission to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) where she has been leading a delegation for a visit from December 13, 2024 to January 6,2025.
The mission engaged in 24 strategic meetings with top leaders from the UAE’s digital economy from groundbreaking discussions with the UAE Federal Government and Dubai Government to collaborative exchanges with global giants including Google and Amazon Web Services.
According to the ministry of ICT linkedIn post , the mission was driven by the objective of deepening bilateral collaboration in digital transformation, smart government services, and technology-driven economic development.
The delegation sought to strengthen knowledge exchange, attract investment, and build strategic partnerships aligned with the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Eswatini and the UAE in September.
The delegation from the country engaged with prominent entities including ministry of economy, Dubai Cyber Security Centre, Coders HQ, Dubai Executive Council, Dubai Science and Technology Park, du, Google, AWS among others.
It was indicated that the interactions explored best practices in digital governance, innovation ecosystems, and cybersecurity frameworks while identifying opportunities for collaboration in talent development, smart governance, and economic advancement.
The discussions were particularly fruitful in areas related to capacity-building and workforce upskilling, where agreements to establish talent exchange programmes were initiated.
On another note , the UAE’s expertise in cybersecurity governance emerged as a focal area, with plans to develop a collaborative framework for enhancing the country’s digital resilience.
Additionally, the delegation explored partnerships aimed at replicating the UAE’s success in digital government services to streamline and modernise public service delivery in Eswatini.
Maziya hailed the mission as a significant milestone, stating that the mission has been an eye-opening experience, offering invaluable insights into the UAE’s remarkable achievements in digital innovation and governance.
“The partnerships we have initiated during this journey will provide the tools and expertise required to propel Eswatini’s digital transformation and strengthen our position in the global digital economy. this historic engagement underscores Eswatini’s dedication to leveraging international collaboration for technological and economic progress, re-affirming its aspirations to be a leader in Africa’s digital transformation.,’’ said Maziya.
The ministry remained committed to forging global partnerships that catalyse the country’s journey towards a sustainable and inclusive digital future.
