WANDERERS CANNOT ACT AGAINST COURT RULING - WELLINGTON

By NOMALUNGELO PHIRI | 2024-12-05

SOCCER - "WE are law-abiding citizens!"
Hub giants Manzini Wanderers have made it clear that they would not go against the High Court ruling, by playing in the MTN National First Division (NFD).

Speaking on national radio, the Eswatini Broadcasting and Information Service (EBIS) yesterday, Wanderers Chairman Wellington Motsa said the team would stick by the rules after the court ruling that they should be fixtured in the top flight league.

“Playing in the NFD would mean we are breaking the court order, which we cannot do as Manzini Wanderers.

“In Eswatini football, rules are not clear; our football systems have failed us.
“I think the PLE came out with their own ruling by fixturing Moneni Pirates from the beginning.

Even after that, they did not consider the court ruling. What is happening at Manzini Wanderers has never happened in Eswatini football history," he said.

Motsa said it was painful to them, saying they thought Eswatini football was governed by people who knew and loved the sport. He further said Wanderers were never relegated as no one even confirmed the team’s fate.

“We were not confirmed to be relegated and we are still shocked to learn that some of the people who run football in the country are saying the team must play in the NFD. They must just give Wanderers their right.

This is not about Wanderers’ image, but it's Eswatini football’s,” he said. He highlighted that they ran to the court because there were no clear rules on the Jimoh Moses’ issue.
