SOCCER - HE just loves Eswatini!
Despite making it clear that he was leaving the country for good, controversial national team head coach Logarusic Zdravko is still around.
The Croatian mentor allegedly made outbursts that he was leaving the country for good, as Zdravko confirmed his departure with the publication last week Monday.
He said he had packed his bags and was heading home.
When sought on that same day, Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Marketing and Communications Officer Muzi Radebe said all he knew was that the coach would be going home for the Christmas holidays, and they were expecting him back as the national team was set to play later this month.
“I do not know anything about the coach leaving Sihlangu. I thought he was visiting his family and would come back. I am not aware of what you are telling me.
“What I know is that on Monday (last week Monday) morning he met with the CEO, but I do not know what they talked about,” he said.
However, on Monday he was seen at the EFA offices in a jolly mood, and was shaking hands with everyone. When asked on clarity about the coach, Radebe said he was in the country and had never left.
“The coach has a running contract with the EFA and nothing has changed as he is still our national team coach,” said Radebe.
The coach, who previously managed Zimbabwe, shunned Sihlangu’s activities in a build-up to the match against Guinea-Bissau.
He did not travel with the team to Mbombela Stadium, SA, where they played to a 1-1 draw with Guinea-Bissau. Logarusic was also not present when the nation’s pride lost 0-6 to Mali in the AFCON Qualifiers.
Sources suggest that Logarusic reportedly demanded a E60 000 travelling allowance from the football mother body, which resulted in his absence in the two matches.
