A new shopping complex is set to revitalise the Buhleni community.
With an estimated total cost of 15 million Emalangeni, the project is scheduled for completion by July 2025.
Once completed, the complex is expected to create 80 to 100 numerous job opportunities for local residents, stimulating economic growth in the region.
It would also serve as a convenient shopping destination for the local community and attract visitors from neighbouring areas, boosting local businesses.
The Minister of Commerce, Industry and Trade Manqoba khumalo visited the site over the weekend
“This project is a vital step in our efforts to enhance the economic landscape of Buhleni and its surrounding areas,” he stated.
This modern shopping destination would not only cater to the local community but also attract visitors from neighbouring regions, thereby boosting local commerce, according to the minister. The first floor will house a KFC outlet and a Boxer store.
KFC, renowned for its delectable fried chicken and fast-food offerings, it is a globally recognised restaurant chain. Its presence would undoubtedly attract visitors to the complex, according to Khumalo.
To complement the dining experience, a Boxer store would be added to the first floor.
This retail outlet will offer a diverse range of products, enhancing the overall shopping experience for visitors.
The second floor would be dedicated to office spaces available for rent, catering to business professionals seeking convenient office solutions in a vibrant commercial environment.
This strategic combination of dining and office spaces aims to create a dynamic atmosphere that supports both leisure and work activities.
This development reflects a growing trend of mixed-use spaces that enhance community engagement and provide diverse services in one location.
Despite challenges such as supplier delays and VAT issues on materials imported from South Africa, the project owners remain optimistic about securing the necessary financial assistance to ensure timely completion.
The minister praised the dedication of the project team, expressing confidence in their ability to navigate these obstacles.
“This is a testament to the hard work and commitment of everyone involved,” he remarked. “I am excited to see this project take shape and to witness the positive impact it will have on the Buhleni community.”
The minister concluded by reaffirming the government's dedication to investing in the economic future of the community, ensuring that the benefits of the shopping complex would be felt far and wide.
As the construction progresses, the local community eagerly anticipates the transformation of the site into a vibrant hub of commerce and employment.
