SOCCER - CAPITAL city giants Mbabane Highlanders are reported to have paid Mbabane Swallows the E40 000 balance in respect of Banele ‘Pupu’ Sikhondze.
This comes after Mbabane Swallows took their rivals to court, as they demanded the payment of E40 000, which was the balance in respect of the transfer. The exact figure for the transfer was E80 000.
Reports suggest that the debt has been paid through the derby gate-collections.
Embattled Highlanders Managing Director Chief Ally Kgomongwe confirmed the developments.
“Yes, the PLE has already paid Swallows through the gate-collections as per my instruction. I think we are now left with the legal bills and interests,” he said.
Interestingly, the PLE transferred the funds while the Highlanders faction pleaded for the release of the money to cushion the players. Meanwhile, Sikhondze joined Tanzania outfit Tabora FC at the beginning of the season.
Highlanders are also accusing Tabora of an unfair deal, as they haven’t received payment from the deal that took place in August.
‘Pupu’ has already played a couple of matches since joining the club three months ago. He is the first Liswati player to ply his trade in East Africa. Sikhondze has also played in the PSL, South Africa, for Polokwane City and the defunct NFD side Mbombela United.
