THE National Arts and Culture Awards (NACAs) in Eswatini announced a generous E500 000 donation from His Excellency General Alh-Hadji Hissein, MD of AGIC, Burkina Faso.

The contribution, presented yesterday morning during a virtual meeting at Mountain View Hotel arrived at an essential time with the ceremony just a month away.

This support reflects General Hissein’s dedication to cultural promotion and the empowerment of women, aligning with the values of Eswatini’s National Arts and Culture Council.

General Hissein emphasised his excitement for this partnership, stating, “this is the beginning of more collaboration with Eswatini for promoting Arts and Culture.”

His donation is seen as a significant step in strengthening the cultural bond between Burkina Faso and Eswatini, paving the way for enriched artistic connections.

Eswatini National Council of Arts and Culture (ENCAC) CEO Stanley Dlamini expressed deep appreciation for the financial boost. He highlighted that the partnership was initiated in April and shared his satisfaction at witnessing it come to fruition.

Dlamini also announced plans for a cultural exchange programme with Burkina Faso, aimed at fostering continued collaboration and mutual cultural appreciation.

Sipho Makhabane, Chairperson of the NACA Awards, urged the public and art enthusiasts to support the event by purchasing tickets, now available through Moja Tickets and participating in the ongoing voting process.

He expressed confidence in strong community engagement for the upcoming celebration.
When questioned about the future of the partnership, His Excellency confirmed an intention for a long-term collaboration, suggesting that this partnership might extend beyond the usual two-year framework of the awards and could include further cultural initiatives.

The contribution from General Hissein marks a pivotal development for the NACAs, symbolising a commitment to fostering artistic growth and creating sustained cultural ties between the two nations.
