‘PLOT TO REMOVE ALLY’

SOCCER - THE cracks at Mbabane Highlanders are said to be part of the clandestine moves to remove the team's boss Chief Ally Kgomongwe.

This was disclosed by head coach Mthunzi Ginindza after the team's shocking 0-2 defeat at the hands of rookies Sisonkhe at King Sobhuza II Stadium yesterday.

"I can't hide that things are not well in our camp. There is a section of Highlanders people who want to force our director out. They are also invading the training ground, hence we fear for our lives.

“If this continues and they succeed in removing the director, I will be forced to also step down," he emotionally said.

Coming to the match, Highlanders came with a makeshift defence following the absence of Vusimuzi Vilakati, Khwezi Matsebula, Ndumiso Dlamini and Melusi ‘Mega’ Magagula.

The opening minutes of the encounter offered little excitement with Highlanders managing to win a couple of corner kicks.

The match went to the break at 0-0. The second half saw both sides making tactical adjustments in a bid to get a goal. It was Sisonkhe who broke the deadlock in the 48th minute when the opposition’s defender Sibahle Sukati’s clearance hit Sentelweyinkosi Dube before going into the net.

Mthunzi’s men launched a flurry of attacks with Majahasibili Ndlovu, Philani Mkhonto and Mpilonhle Khumalo leading the charge but they failed to find the back of the net.

Kenneth Moloto’s set piece in the 78th minute was easily dealt with by goalkeeper Thembelihle Malaza.

Things got worse for Highlanders in the 80th minute when the visitors were awarded a penalty after Quality Dlamini was fouled inside the box. Former Green Mamba striker Banele ‘Bunny’ Mdluli converted from the spot to make it 2-0.

The new kids on the block grabbed the maximum points to improve their position on the log standings.
