‘IT’S A TITLE DECIDER’

By XOLISILE SACOLO | 2024-05-09

SOCCER - CAPITAL city giants Mbabane Swallows could be crowned MTN Premier League champions with a win over Ezulwini United at Mkhuzweni Technical Centre on Saturday.

However, Swallows governor Sandile ‘Beyond 2000’ Zwane says they do not want to put pressure on their players but they will treat this game as a title decider. Winning the league title would serve as a relief for the ‘Beautiful Birds’, who have already lost three cup finals in the Ingwenyama Cup, MoMo Cup and Trade Fair Cup this season.

“We are left with two games but the match against Ezulwini United is a title decider for us. We will treat this match like a cup final.” Zwane said they were aware that this would not be an easy match but they wanted all three points.

“Everybody is looking forward to giving their all during the match a fight. We know our opponents do not want to lose and we will give it our all.

So  our attention is trying to make sure that we achieve our desired target in the last matches and it just happens that Ezulwini United can decide the championship,” he said. “We are not putting a lot of pressure on the players to look at this game as a title decider because we still want them to give the same energy even in the last match,” Zwane added.

He said the intensity at training was good.  Zwane appreciated the spirit and unity displayed by everyone, including the president Archbishop Bheki Lukhele, management, sponsors, technical bench, players, elders and the supporters.

“The team has never been this united which makes us perform well,” the Swallows GM said.
He invited their fans to come in their numbers to cheer on the players on Saturday. Ezulwini United coach Mphumelelo Ngwenya said this would be a tough match but it presented a good challenge for the players.

"We watched Swallows playing against Mbabane Highlanders and we are prepared for them. “We know they are a strong team but we will not sit down and put that in our heads but instead we will do our best," he said.
