WOMAN WHO COLLAPSED IN CHURCH LIVED WITH HYPERTENSION

By PHEPHILE MOTAU | 2024-04-30

The family of the woman who collapsed and died in church say they were shocked by her death as she was healthy and did not show any signs of being unwell.

Ntombi Ndlovukazi collapsed during a church service at Elohim Assemblies on Sunday in front of over 20 congregants.

Ndlovukazi was meant to be the programme director on the day of her demise, and a few minutes after the service began, she was discovered to be unresponsive.

Lungelo Masilela, the last-born son to the woman, said his mother was well and healthy and did not have any underlying issues.

“She was not ill, but she lived with hypertension.
However, it was under control,” he said.

Masilela said Ndlovukazi was active in the Elohim Assemblies Church and attended without fail. He said his mother did not have any position in the church, but she was now and again asked to direct the proceedings as this was the case on Sunday.

He added that the family were also members of the church.
Another family member who preferred to remain anonymous said Ndlovukazi had found peace through dying in church.

He revealed that the same happened to Ndlovukazi’s brother as he also died in church.
“It is what she also wished as she felt it would be in the presence of the Lord,” he said.
Masilela said the family was not thinking of having a post-mortem conducted for Ndlovukazi as they had accepted her death and were at peace.

Masilela said his mother left five children, and he was the youngest.
He said the family would  meet for funeral arrangements, but the tentative arrangements were that there would be a memorial service on Friday and a funeral on Saturday at Bulandzeni where she is originally from.
