DROPPING POINTS MEANS WE ARE OUT OF TITLE RACE - EDWIN

By Nomalungelo Phiri | 2024-04-20

Soccer- Royal Leopard head coach Edwin Matsebula says if they drop points in their MTN Premier League clash against Green Mamba, it would mean they are out of title race.

'Ingwemabalabala' will have a date with Green Mamba at Simunye Stadium today, with kick-off at 3pm. Matsebula  said this was a must-win game after  dropping points against Ezulwini United last weekend.

The blue and white outfit played to a nil-all draw against ‘Stingers’.
"The players are motivated and the spirit is very high especially because this is a derby. The forces derby has always been at stake amongst the players.

‘‘Preparations for the game went well,” he said.
He further said they were not very far from winning the league and they will have to treat every game as a knockout, saying they will be short of one player in Simanga Masangane who has been nabbed by the yellow card rule.

Green Mamba head coach Ernest Mavuso said it would be a very tough game and they know Royal Leopard’s as a strong team and this is a forces derby.

"We also know their key players and we put that into consideration when doing our preparations for the game. We have an advantage because we have a full squad, there are no casualties,” he said.

Mavuso said it was still their mission to defend the league title, saying the need to be consistent in whatever they do.
"Anything is possible in the game of football, but we can win it,” he said.
