MOMO CUP KICK-STARTS

SOCCER - ITS bumper action for football fanatics this coming weekend as the MoMo Cup knockout tournament begins with the league entering into week two matches.

This was confirmed by Premier League of Eswatini Football Manager Petros Vilakati during the Eswatini Broadcasting and Information Services (EBIS) Sports Show yesterday morning.

Vilakati said they were delighted that the second edition of the MoMo Cup was back and it's all systems go on Saturday.

He appreciated supporters who took their time in voting for their respective teams. He added that the league games would continue, especially for the teams that would not be part of the play-offs.

“It is certain that the second edition will be staged this weekend after the successful voting process, where supporters were hands-on. Match Two of the league will also be played this weekend in the respective venues, which will feature teams that will be out of the MoMo tournament,” he said.

MoMo Cup Public Relations Officer Thabiso 'Touch' Manyatsi appreciated the supporters for voting for their teams, adding that they were also looking forward to an interesting competition.
“Many thanks go to our sponsors, MTN Fintech Services, for seeing it fit that the competition returns even this year.

The supporters have also played a vital role in the voting process, it is commendable.
We are yet to meet all relevant stakeholders to further discuss the logistics,” he said.
It has been gathered that the venue for the play-offs will be revealed after a meeting later today. The last edition was won by Nsingizini Hotspurs, who beat Moneni Pirates 2-1 in extra time.
