STAMFORD TO CREATE 1 000 JOBS AT GAMULA FACTORY

By SILINDZELWE NXUMALO | 2023-06-15

Stamford Enterprises will create over 1 000 jobs courtesy of their investment at Gamula Factory.
This was revealed by Minister Commerce, Industry and Trade, Manqoba Khumalo.

The minister said the factory was one of the tasks given to his ministry by His Majesty King Mswati III during Parliament’s fifth session official opening to construct factories in rural areas.
He said government was very pleased to know that there was already an investor interested in the factory which would be completed by the end of next month.

“We are happy that the investor is here with us and they have a chance to look at the work and start preparing to put in their machines and allow people to be employed,” he said.

The minister stated that they were expecting contractors to have finished by July and as soon as the works were completed peoplefrom Gamula, Big Bend, Siphofaneni, Lubulini, KaNgcampalala and nearby places would be hired especially the youth.

“Over 1 000 Emaswati will be hired and the investors have already started bringing in their equipment in preparation to start working as soon as the construction is over,” he said.  He added that they had also constructed a state of the art clinic at the factory which would ensure that workers got medical assistance very near.

“We have also considered opening this clinic not just for factory staff but for the entire community.   This means that people of kaMatsenjwa would get medical assistance near instead of going far,” he said.

He stated that they had partnered with the ministry of health to ensure that all the necessary health equipment is available for this clinic.

Meanwhile, Stamford Enterprises Zaid Vheed said they were excited and impressed with the quality of work put in by the contractors which has made it possible for them to invest.
“We have worked with Eswatini in the last four years and we can see that the expertise of Eswatini Investment Promotion Authority is growing in terms of clothing manufacturing.
There are many recommendations that we made previously that have been considered here,” he said.

He added that the size of the factory was perfect as it was ideal for two large clothing plants. Stamford Enterprises, Ashurf Hoseen stated that they were interested in investing because of the relationship they had with the queen mother.  “We have a very good success story at the Buhleni area where we have hired over 1 200 people and this represents money circulating in the country,” he said.

He said they were prepared to put in the work and employment with the support they would be getting from the community.

Gamula acting Chief, Thokozani Matsenjwa thanked the minister for the development they brought for the community.

“We thank the government for bringing this project here as it is a big project for the community. We promise that the youth of the Gamula community will come and work at this factory,” he said.
