BUFFALOES WIN WFL FORCES DERBY

By Colisile Sacolo | 2022-05-24

SOCCER -  YOUNG Buffaloes emerged victorious in the Women Football League (WFL) forces derby against Royal Leopard by 3-0 at Malkerns Country Club yesterday.
The army side needed goals from Nobuhle Mdluli, Mozambique international Celestino Chinquileg and Celiwe Nkambule to outsmart their rivals.

Young Buffaloes came to the match looking for maximum points to maintain their top position in the log standings.

The Mxolisi ‘Stopper’ Mtsetfwa-led side were humbled by the well-oiled opposition as they failed to respond to the resistance of the winning side.

Buffaloes coach Fisiwe Hlophe said she was happy with their hard-fought victory.
“I am proud of my players’ performances on the day as they applied themselves and stuck to our game plan which was to close the opposition down. We will continue working hard in the remaining games of the league,”she said.  Meanwhile, her Leopard counterpart Mcolisi ‘Stopper’ Mtsetfwa said they were unlucky on the day.

“We did not play according to our game plan but we tried our best to come back to the match.

“Mother luck was not on our side after failing to convert our chances that we created on the day.  We will go back to the drawing back to rectify our mistakes and focus on the remaining games,” said the former Sihlangu defensive midfielder.
