NOMPILO’S FAMILY LEFT DEVASTATED

By Sifiso Nhlabatsi | 2022-01-06

The family of Nompilo Dlamini whose lungs are failing her, as she suffers from cystic fibrosis, said they are greatly disturbed by news that their child was losing the will to fight on to save her life.

The young woman, who is currently in India, sent shockwaves when she revealed that she was now tired of fighting on and would no longer be taking medication for her condition. The 26-year old announced that she was ready to accept death. In her social media post, Dlamini went on to say that she was now leaving everything to God.

To end her pain she said, she now needs an operation that would kill her, through an operation known as euthanasia. This, which can only be done in Netherlands voluntary, she said she needs badly. Euthanasia is described by Wikipedia as the painless killing of a patient suffering from an incurable and painful disease or in an irreversible coma.

Dlamini’s moving message has left the family distraught, as they were not prepared to give up on her. Her mother Jabu Fakudze said she did not have the words to express how she was feeling the pain her daughter was going through. She raised Dlamini as any parent would and it is every parent’s dream to see his or her child growing up into a healthy child and living a normal life.

She said as things stand now she is not okay emotionally. Fakudze said she tries to keep in touch with Dlamini through voice and video calls since she is far away. She said it would have been better if her child was near her.

She went on to explain that she is greatly disturbed by the recent developments and do not have much to say. Dlamini touched the hearts of many and has had a great impact on people who are suffering the same fate as her. Dlamini is at the end stage of CF as her lungs are failing her.

She stated that she is not suicidal nor has she lost hope, however, she said she is just done and does not want to keep on fighting as she has fought enough. “Now it is just time I ask God to give me rest from this battle, my job is finished, may God do His will. Thank you for carrying me through since 2019,” Dlamini wrote on her timeline.

Giving an update after taking a break from social media for a while, Dlamini announced that she would be coming home next week because the needed injection is not available in India. She said the injection is part of the immune suppressant that she is supposed to take.

Although she revealed that the injection she needs is available in South Africa, she said at the same time she did not think she had that will to take any more medication or to take any more chances of giving her hope to get help and keep on the fight.

She explained that she thought she had done enough, done what she had to do. “I have inspired people, I have given them hope, I have brought them back to Christ, I have taught them how to pray, I have taught them how to smile even when you are in pain, so for me honestly I am done with medication.

I am just going to let God do His will,” Dlamini stated in her emotional message. She said going forward she would take each day as it comes because she has had enough of the fighting. Dlamini said no form of medication would ease her heaviness as she now needs rest.

She expressed appreciation to what people had done for her from day one, saying she would have long lost hope if it were not for those who supported her. Dlamini made it clear that she is not losing hope and that she is not giving up. She said, however, she needs to rest.

She said she cannot go to work yet she had a certificate because of her condition. Following this message, people offered messages of support to Dlamini, urging her to soldier on and not give up now. They stated that they understand her situation and why she is feeling the way she feels. They hailed her for being strong.
