ANAS RELEASED FOR BAD 'LUCK'

By MELUSI MLOTSA | 2021-11-09

SOCCER - FORMER Mbabane Swallows striker Anas had the ill-luck of having all three teams he joined since moving to SA being relegated. Now in a rather shocking incident, Mohammed Anas has since been released by DSTV Premiership side TS Galaxy following complaints about ‘bad luck’ he has brought to the team.

The Ghanaian forward joined the team last season alongside former Mbabane Highlanders striker Mthobisi Mngomezulu. A source told The Citizens that some Galaxy players in the team raised concerns about Anas having ‘bad luck’ and transferring it to the whole team. “Every team he has played for here in South Africa has either dodged relegation by a whisker or got relegated.

He was at Maritzburg and they narrowly survived relegation that season. He was at Free State Stars when they were relegated and the same happened to Polokwane City. “Last season he was with Black Leopards and the same thing happened .The players were worried that they are trying everything but the results are not coming. He was quietly released by the club last week,” the source told Kick-Off.

Mohammed also played for Manzini Wanderers locally before moving to Mbabane Swallows. He left the country in 2014 to join Maritzburg United. The Ghanaian striker also underwent a trial spell with Kaizer Chiefs; however he wasn’t offered a deal with the Amakhosi and joined up with the Team of Choice instead. He managed to convince Steve Komphela at the time to offer him a contract.

In 2017, a post-match interview by Anas went viral after he thanked his wife and girlfriend. He, however denied being unfaithful, saying, “My family knows that I call my daughter my girlfriend. That’s what I was talking about. I don’t have a girlfriend.” Meanwhile, TS Galaxy suffered another defeat at the hands of Supersport United in Lucas Moripe Stadium over the weekend.

Having taken the lead in the 63rd minute through former Mbabane Highlanders striker Mthobisi the Rockets ended up losing the match 1-2. Meanwhile, local international Justice Figuaredo is plying his trade in the GladAfrica Championship after he was loaned out by the ‘Rockets’ to Cape Town Spurs.
