SOCCER - Capital city giants Mbabane Swallows’ hierarchy has reportedly decided to retain their faith in head coach Christopher Ennin, having given him the green- light to lead the team once again in the upcoming MTN Premier League 2021/22 season.
This comes after the coach’s performance last season had come under scrutiny after he failed to lead the red and white glamour outfit to the CAF Champions League.
When the coach joined the team during the beginning of last season, his mandate was to take the team back to the continental tournament.
Unfortunately, the Beautiful Birds only managed to finish in third position in the MTN log standings behind champions Royal Leopard and runners-up Young Buffaloes.
Word coming out of the bird’s nest is that after a successful meeting with the team’s president Archbishop Bheki Lukhele last week, it was decided that the Ghanaian coach had done well under the circumstances thus he must continue to be at helm until the end of the new season.

“The club had decided not to part ways with Ennin after he had a fruitful meeting with the club president where he gave his report.
The coach was offered a two year contract which expires at the end of the season so the club wants to give him another chance to fulfill his mandate. Everyone understands the challenges faced last season so it was decided that he must continue,” said the source.
Reached for comment on the matter, Mbabane Swallows Marketing and Communications Officer Mancoba Mabuza only confirmed that the gaffer was still part of the team without sharing further details.
“Mbabane Swallows coach Ennin still has a contract with the club and that contract has not expired,” he said.
Ennin brings with him a wealth of international experience to the capital city giants having initially arrived in Eswatini to lead Mhlume Peacemakers during the 2018/2019 season.
He then moved to Manzini based side Denver Sundowns where he helped them achieve an impressive top table finish the following season. He joined the capital side at the start of 2020/2021 season where he missed out on a continental competition place.
