‘MAGIDZA’ FOUND IN S. AFRICA

By Melusi Mlotsa | 2021-04-14

SOCCER - IN what will come as good news, Mbabane Highlanders Public Relations Officer Paul 'Magidza' Masilela has been found alive in South.

This comes after the PRO went missing for four days, thus causing panic to family members, relatives, his team (Highlanders) and members of the public.

Some members of the Masilela family’s efforts to get hold of ‘Magidza’ hit a snag on Sunday. According to close family member, the 2019/20 Eswatini Bank Cup award winning PRO is with his relative in South Africa (Jeppes Reef).

“We tried to locate his whereabouts and we have found out that he is South Africa with his brother. Family members will go there and try to convince him to come back home," said the source.

A close relative Zakhele Masilela neither confirmed nor denied the latest developments. “We have heard the rumours but for now let me not say anything until we get hold of him," he said brifely. Mbabane Highlanders Director Benson Dlamini said ‘Magidza’ had been missing in the team. “We hope he is safe wherever he is.

We miss him a lot in the team especially his jokes. Magidza cannot be replaceable because of the way he markets the team, especially during the EBIS Sports Show," he said. Dlamini added that they were in constant contact with his family.

“We can’t rely on rumours; we will wait for his family to give us something official.”

Meanwhile, Masilela was last seen on Friday, according to close relatives and Highlanders officials. His two cellphone numbers have been unavailable all weekend long. He did not report for work at Swazi Wire Industries also, leaving his employers worried about his whereabouts.

It is alleged that Masilela had family problems and unconfirmed news revealed that he told a close relative that he would vanish to some place where he would never be found. Masilela’s phone numbers according to relatives ware available on Friday, only to be off later in the day after an alleged feud that was reportedly sorted by police after he disappeared.

‘Magidza’ is popular for representing Highlanders with pride and is one of the elite clubs’ spokespersons. Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) Public Information and Communications Senior Superintendent Phindile Vilakati said they would check with the different desk officers if the matter was reported.
