Mbabane- AN innovative Apostle Justice Dlamini, whose church was the first to bring automated teller machines, to church is now bringing a ‘drive thru’ service.
In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, where all gatherings have been banned for a further four weeks, including church services, the Mbabane Worship Centre will tomorrow and Sunday host these never been seen services.
Churches in Mbabane which broke the regulations were taken to task a couple of weeks ago.
Finding an innovative way to conduct the blessing and offering service, the church has decided on a drive thru, similar to the are done by fast food outlets restaurants. According to a poster which circulated on social media yesterday evening, congregants will be able to get blessings from the apostle, while in their cars.
They will also be able to swipe or give their tithes and offerings, without alighting from their cars, and then leave for home.
"This will be a chance for your kids to see and greet the apostle and receive 2021 blessings from your car," reads the poster. The service will be conducted tomorrow from 2pm to 5pm and on Sunday, from 11am to 2pm.
Apostle Dlamini was not available for comment when sought last night, but sources within the church acknowledged the existence of the poster.
It is alleged that the apostle’s idea was motivated by the drive-thru eateries that are still open despite the banning of gatherings.
Hhohho Regional COVID-19 Task Team Compliance and Protection Chairman Superintendent Khulani Mamba confirmed having seen the poster.
“I think as a regional committee we are yet to meet and discuss what this does to the COVID-19 Regulations and the extended lockdown, banning all gatherings as announced by the acting prime minister.
“I am sure that once we have studied the regulations and guidelines, we will be informed of our next action with regards to the Drive Thru services being proposed,” Superintendent Mamba said.
The church once held a concert entitled 'Day of Clean Fun', which had performances by South African artists, including Black Coffee.
