ALLY’S KIND GESTURE A SIGN OF SPORTSMANSHIP – NYANGA

By Sibusiso Masilela | 2020-08-09

Soccer- Manzini Wanderers head coach Nyanga ‘Crooks’ Hlophe has welcomed the financial aid as a kind gesture by Mbabane Highlanders boss Chief Ally Kgomongwe.

The Weslians head coach described the move by the South African businessman as a true sign of sportsmanship.

“I see nothing wrong in  Kgomongwe financially assisting us since it shows he has the passion for football. His help is going to relieve us a  since we have been  financially struggling and it will not affect the rivalry between the two clubs, instead it will bring stability to us, which will improve the competitive nature,” he said.

The Highlanders director recently announced he will pay part of outstanding salaries for Wanderers player salaries and further bring two potential directors candidates for the maroon and white giants.

The announcement has seen the two parties caught in the controversy of breaching article 22(10) of the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) constitution which restricts club directors from being direct and indirectly involved in the management of another club.

This has seen the Highlanders chairman get flak from the PLE over the breach with the matter currently under investigation by the league administration.

Wanderers have been facing financial strife since the unceremonious exit of South Africa based director Mehluli Nhlengetfwa in December last year. It has been reported players have gone for about six months without salaries which has hurt their performance. They were in the bottom half of the league table sitting in 11th place with just 17 points.
