‘BIRDS’ CHANGE MIND ON MCCREESH

By Sibusiso Masilela | 2020-08-09

Soccer – Just like the story of the prodigal son in the holy Bible, Richard McCreesh has decided to head back home to the Bird’s nest after his team had a change of heart.

Mbabane Swallows have reportedly offered the midfield dynamo a second chance to prove his worth after being on the fringes for the past couple of months.  The capital city giants are said to have offered their stylish academy product a one-year performance based contract following the player's appearance in the club disciplinary committee for misconduct.

This is a huge turnaround for the Mkhonto ka Shaka’s stance having initially placed McCreesh as part of the transfer listed players at the Honour Janza-led side alongside Vusumuzi Zungu, Siphamandla Dhlamini and Paito Dube to name a few. A source close to the matter revealed that the two parties had smoked the peace pipe and came to an amicable understanding.

“The player wrote a letter of apology to the entire Swallows family, expressing his regret for his actions and the club’s leadership reinstated him. He will be under a performance-based contract moving forward with strict termination clauses included to ensure they do not have the same issues with him in the future,” the source said.

Meanwhile, Swallows Marketing and Communications Manager Mancoba Mabuzawas  in his response when sought for comment on the matter. he said they would inform the public once there was an update available.

“All matters at Mbabane Swallows are communicated in a professional manner once everything has been finalised,” he said.  The retention of McCreesh will be a welcome boost to the club squad as they wait for the return of football activities. McCreesh boasts both domestic and continental experience having broken through the club ranks and thriving under then coach Thabo ‘Koki’ Vilakati.
