The Cold Chain Summit has aligned well with Nedbank’s purpose of using financial expertise to do good for individuals, families, businesses and society.
This was said by Nedbank’s Managing Director Fikile Nkosi during the E100 000 sponsorship presentation to NAMBoard towards the Cold Chain Summit yesterday.
She said as Nedbank, they recognise that agriculture played a crucial role in the country’s economy.
She stated that the summit to be held at Mavuso Trade Centre on August 7-8 was expected to bring together the end-to-end cold chain management system within the country’s fresh produce markets, farming units, handling facilities and the retail sector under one roof.
“We realise that this summit aligns well with our purpose of using our financial expertise to do good for individuals, families, businesses and society,” she said.
She stated that having passed the due diligence exercise with the French Development Agency (AFD), the bank was cognisant of the main hindrances faced by farmers and small businesses in the county, which generally lack funding and markets to sell their produce.
“We are happy that with such an arrangement, these farmers will no longer run from pillar to post trying to secure buyers for their produce as the market has been secured through NAMBoard, NMC and Linne International. “We know that money well managed can make a positive difference and as such, we see the summit as a perfect platform to challenge and inspire our agricultural sector players to see money differently,” she said. Nkosi further stated that the Cold Chain Summit would provide a much needed platform for discussions on latest technologies as well as provide stakeholder capacity building and harnessing lessons learnt from global players.
She added that the summit was also expected to create a perfect environment for learning, contributing, sharing experiences, networking with industry players and it would be a great platform to forge vital business relations with suppliers, producers, retailers and processors.
