ESWATINI TV is making means to air locally produced programmes.
There is has been a 21 percent increase in the number of locally produced shows that air on Eswatini Television since 2017.
This was revealed by Eswatini television Authority Corporate Affairs Manager Mncedisi Mayisela yesterday.
Mayisela said in the past , the growth in local content aired on the national TV station had been stagnant not because of lack of talent but due to the fact that the station could find content producers.
“There was no structure before, but now independent producers have an association and hence we know who to approach should the station need content,” said Mayisela.
He mentioned that there was so much talent to be unleased in the country. The station has availed ways for private content producers have their craft aired on national TV.
According to Mayisela, they can send their content directly to the station. He said that after submission of content, it would then go through processes by the station to see if the content meets the standards of the station in line with Eswatini TV editorial policies.
The station has engaged two local writers to script a sopie for the station.
“Once they are done scripting the soapie, hopefully in September we will know for sure what type of talent we want, how many actors we are looking for and we will then take it to the public by conducting auditions ,” said Mayisela.
The auditions would be conducted in all four regions; Hhohho, Manzini, Shiselweni and Lubombo in order to truly unearth talent from all over the kingdom.
Currently local shows that air on the station include ‘Umhambo Nemasiko’ , ‘Dlala S’dlale’, ‘Kusile Breakfast Show’, and ‘Buhle Betfu’ among many others.
