SOCCER – FORMER Mbabane Swallows and current Mbombela United player, Felix Badenhorst has been named the new Sihlangu captain by coach Kostadin Papic.
Felix will be leading the new- look and youthful squad when they take on Tunisia in the AFCON Qualifier on Friday. The game will be played in Tunis, the capital city of Tunisia.
The Mbombela United midfield maestro thanked the national team technical bench for bestowing him with the task of being the captain of the squad.
He said it was an honour for him to lead the team, more, especially because he was stepping in the shoes of his former teammate in Tony ‘TT’ Tsabedze, who was a great leader, someone he learnt a lot from.
“Tony is a good player and represented the country well. Today, I feel honoured to replace him as the captain of the squad. I know this is a huge task, but I promise to lead by example. I just want to do what ‘TT’ has been doing,” he said.
Expected
Felix said they were prepared for the Tunisia game, and promised thet they would fight for the country. “We know what is expected and we will do our best.”
He also described Papic as a good coach and a father to the players. “I had a brief chat with Papic and I can tell he is a very good coach, and he wants positive results from us,” he said.
Badernhorst promised good behaviour from the players, and said they were ready to fight and make the country proud.
