The Kingdom of Eswatini and Republic of Mozambique will, in a first of its kind, host a joint Business Summit.
The details of the summit were discussed between the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Trade Manqoba Khumalo and his Mozambican counterpart, Regendra de Sousa, during the SACU Ministers of Trade meeting held in Cape Town, South Africa.
The SACU-EU meeting ended on Tuesday.
Eswatini will be hosts of the inaugural summit whose date and venue are yet to be confirmed.
The minister said yesterday that the objectives of the Business Summit were to determine areas of improved cooperation between the two countries, to discuss energy and gas opportunities.
“I am particularly interested in how we can bring gas into Eswatini as quickly as possible. There will also be discussions on the sugar industry between these two countries,” he said.
Khumalo said they would also explore ways on how they can remove or reduce barriers to trade and all other practical trade and business opportunities that the two governments and the private sector will want to discuss.
